What You’ll Be Doing
As Head Housekeeper, you’ll be the first point of contact for all enquiries and work associated with the Domestic/Laundry function within the home. You’ll supervise the Domestic/Laundry Team and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control are maintained at all times.
This includes:
• Creating and monitoring cleaning schedules and duties throughout the home
• Sharing best practice and ensuring all duties are completed to the highest standards
• Conducting audit checks and addressing any issues relating to cleaning standards
• Acting as Infection Prevention and Control Lead within the home
• Supervising, instructing, and supporting the Domestic/Laundry Team
• Supporting inductions for all new members of the Domestic/Laundry Team
• Completing weekly rotas for the Domestic/Laundry Team
• Overseeing cleaning stock orders and maintaining effective stock control
• Ensuring Health and Safety procedures are followed at all times
• Reporting hazards, concerns, or issues appropriately to the management team
• Maintaining confidentiality relating to residents and the home
• Reporting safeguarding concerns where necessary
• Helping provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, families, and visitors
• Participating in team meetings and residents’ family meetings when required
• Respecting residents’ privacy and property at all times
• Promoting a homely and non-institutional environment wherever possible within safety protocols

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Ideal candidates will have:
• Previous experience within housekeeping, domestic, laundry, or care environments
• Experience supervising or supporting a team
• Good organisational and communication skills
• Knowledge of infection prevention, cleaning standards, and health & safety procedures
• The ability to work efficiently and lead by example
It is desirable, but not essential, that the successful candidate:
• Has experience working within a care home environment
• Has knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures
